Variety Announcement 6.11.2010

Los Angeles, California
Solana Beach, California

On May 20, 2010, Julia Morley and Salah M. Hassanein, respectively the International President of Variety International the Children's Charity, and the Chairman of Variety Children's Lifeline, jointly announced that after more than 25 years of association, the two charities, which had separated from one another in September 2004, were amicably ending their relationship.

In the future, each of the charities will pursue their respective missions for the world's children independently as they have done since 2004.

On Christmas Eve 1928, a baby named Catherine was found in the Sheridan Theatre in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Her adoption initiated the charitable work of Variety the Children's Charity.

Variety the Children's Charity is an outgrowth of the "Variety Club," a social organization founded in 1927 by 11 men affiliated with the entertainment industry in Pittsburgh, PA.

Today, Variety has 43 Tents (Chapters) in 13 countries.

Variety has raised over US$1.7 billion for children around the world.
